Tips to maximising your online Pastoral Care Teacher / Parent Conference with your child’s teacher

  1. We are recommending you use your child’s school allocated Device (iPad or Laptop if one has been provided) for this conference.
  2. Please select a quiet location to ensure you can hear clearly.
  3. Please ensure the device is placed safely on a desk / stand and you can see the screen without holding or moving the device.
  4. You are welcome to have both yourself and your child with you during the conference.
  5. You will need to talk clearly and slowly and it’s best you both don’t try and talk at the same time.
  6. Please remove as many distractions as possible, as this is only an 8-minute conference and we need to be as efficient as possible.
  7. You open the confirmation email that was sent to you allowing enough time prior to the conference.
  8. You need to select the “join Teams meeting” link at least 5 minutes before the conference.
  9. You need to follow any instruction provided (your students will be able to assist you as they use this technology as part of remote learning) and you will be placed in a “Virtual Lobby” where the Teacher will admit you at the commencement of the conference.
  10. It is essential that we stay on time so that teachers can meet with other parents at their allocated times. If you believe you require more time, you are welcome to contact the teacher, via SEQTA, to arrange for an alternative time to discuss your child’s progress.
