The end of term has arrived and we are having to farewell Mrs Katrina Montgomery, our much-loved Head of English. Kat is leaving to start a new adventure in Perth; our loss is their gain. She has been showered with blessings all week. We will miss her.
It is time to take a well-earned break. May all be safe during the holidays and return to school refreshed and ready for Term Two.
I will leave you with an Easter prayer:
Almighty God, who through your only‑begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lord’s resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by your life‑giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
CURRICULUM
VCE has been extremely busy in both Years 11 & 12, as the body of learning for Unit 1 & 3 is completed; the students have been working through the flurry of SACs that ensues after that. All have taken this exercise seriously and students have had heads buried in books or have been in deep discussion with their colleagues.
THE SY BUILDING
Students really love the adult learning environment they find themselves in but relish the fact that they can meet the needs of the inner child as well (that includes staff). They have the cave like space with The Bridge and the Eggs and the open formal work areas and relaxed workspaces. It was wonderful to see the parents on parents evening, playing in the eggs and flopping down into the Kloudsacs with many exclamations of, “I wish we’d had this when I was at school”. This positive environment has given such a lift to both staff and students.
CAREERS
On 8 May, we have a Morrisby Report Information Evening where Barry Darnell (the guru of the report) will be speaking to the Year 10 parents and students about how to read the report etc.
Monday 17 June, the week after the exam week, the Year 12’s will be going up to Fed Uni for the day for a guided campus tour etc. This will give the opportunity to show what Ballarat has to offer and see it as a viable alternative to the universities in Melbourne. This is usually a wonderful day.
God bless.
