BEFORE SCHOOL DROP OFF AND AFTER SCHOOL PICK UP
Just a reminder to all families that no students are to be on the College grounds before 8:15am. Students arriving after this time, but before 8:30am, are to head to either the space in front of the Middle School building (Years 6-12) or the undercover space in Junior School (Prep - Year 5), and must wait quietly at this time as there is only limited supervision available.
Once the day has finished, students who are not picked up immediately after school must head to the supervised pick up spaces at the front of the College, in front of the Chapel. Older students can also wait in the supervised area on Caraleena Drive. However, no students are able to remain inside the College, particularly on or around the play equipment as there is no supervision at this time.
THE FARM HOUSE
Towards the end of last year we painted the Farm House. The number of parents who noticed and asked about what that was all about surprised me! Given how often there has been a new building, or garden, or other change happen over the past many years now perhaps there's always a curiosity about what might be happening next. Sadly, the answer I give isn't anywhere near as exciting as some might hope. Simply, with the near-completion of Tarneit Road duplication, the removal of all the temporary fencing and construction sites, it was looking a little too much like a sore thumb and so a quick paint job to try to freshen it up was in order.
TRAFFIC LIGHTS
We know that the Tarneit duplication has run well over 12 months past it's original completion date and we do really value your patience during this time. It does finally appear to be getting close to completion though I'm certainly not guessing any more about when that might occur! What we do know is that traffic lights are the domain of VicRoads and are commissioned by them when they are ready. The timing of this is not typically aligned with the end of the associated roadworks, so we are not yet aware of when this might occur. However, if you were here several years ago you may remember that during peak times we ran the front car park split into two separate ones. Once the lights are operating and turning right becomes safe and simple, we anticipate at this time that we will revert back to the two-carpark system as it allows for better traffic flow - particularly during the afternoon.
INTRODUCING SW6-894
Back in May last year the government announced that it was giving away (for ‘repurposing’) 134 trams, with a particular focus on encouraging community groups and educational institutions to apply. While there was cost for general public to purchase one if they were successful, schools were to be gifted the tram, along with the relocation costs and a small sum for foundations. Like a large number of schools, we put in an application for one, with the hope of being able to use it as a breakout and withdrawal/quiet space for the Junior Resource Centre, as well as a potential restaurant/café for Food Technology classes. Late last year we discovered we were successful – being allocated SW6 class tram 894! We've now got quite a bit of planning to go ahead with in order to make this a reality, but there is at least a reasonable chance that within the next 12 months a well-travelled tram will make an appearance at Good News.
