Middle Years Report Term 1 - Week 7 | 21 March 2019

Nathan Shrowder

HEAD OF MIDDLE YEARS

Principled

We all want our students to grow up being respectful and courteous to all members of our community, whether this is school, family, church or neighbourhood. Part of our responsibility as adults, is to help instill in our students values and characteristics that help guide them and mould them into responsible adults. One way in which we are trying to do this in our Middle School is to focus on one of our MYP Learner Profiles each term.

This term our focus is on being ‘Principled’.

Being Principled, means that we all “act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness and justice, and with respect for the dignity and rights of people everywhere. We take responsibility for our actions and their consequences”.

We have had some wonderful presentations from our Year 6 and Year 8 students at assembly, while also watching a few short videos to ensure the students can develop a strong understanding of what it means to be principled here at GNLC. We will continue, throughout the remaining weeks, to ensure this message is being heard by all members of our Middle School community.
