Welcome to a new and exciting year!
It is great to be back for another year of education, fun, friendship and laughter. If your child is in Year 6 this year or is new to Good News Lutheran College, then we welcome you to our Middle School. Middle School is such an exciting time for our students and we hope that this year will be full of energy and enthusiasm. There are so many things happening this year that will keep all our students busy and engaged. Although we have only in our third week, there has been so much going on for our Middle School. I have outlined some of these activities below.
CAMPS
Camps are such a vital component of school and even more so in Middle School, when our students are so focused on friendships and really finding out how they fit in. It is for this reason that we have all our Middle School camps in Term 1. Both Year 9 and Year 7 students have already had their camps in Week 2 and both were very successful. A huge thank you needs to go out to all the staff who helped out with these camps in some way. Camps are only ever as successful as the planning and preparation the staff put into them. We still have our Year 8 camp next week (Wednesday – Friday) and the Year 6 camp in Week 8. We wish them all the best in their experiences.
HOUSE SWIMMING CARNIVAL
The House Swimming Carnival was on Tuesday this week. This was a great opportunity for our students to participate in a fun and exciting carnival and represent their House for the first time this year. We had great participation in the swimming events and we really appreciated seeing everyone dressing up in bright colours representing their House. Congratulations to all our students who participated and well done to Baker for winning the carnival. A huge thank you to all the PE staff that helped organize the event and all the staff who helped as officials on the day. It was a great team effort.
TWILIGHT FAMILY PICNIC
Here at GNLC we take pride in the family community we have and we always look forward to our Twilight Family Picnic on Friday 15th March. This is an opportunity for families to come along, bring a picnic dinner and meet other families that are part of our community. We hope we will see many of you there.
I look forward to catching up with many of you throughout the year.
