Good News Lutheran College embraces the importance of active learning and student individuality and, as such, is introducing some changes to the Junior School Prep – Year 2 clothing range beginning in 2020. There will be a two-year phase-in period, with all P-2 students needing to be in the new uniform by the beginning of 2022.
We aim to provide various unisex clothing pieces to be worn in mix and match style across all seasons and activities.
The clothing pieces can be layered to suit the Melbourne climate.
There will be no specific summer/winter uniform or sports/formal uniform.
SCHOOL CLOTHING OPTIONS INCLUDE:
- Short sleeve and long sleeve tee style shirt with collar in a brand new 'designed for Good News' modern stripe, made from a comfortable, durable cotton fabric
- Navy drill shorts and long pants – similar to the current Junior School items
- Navy pull-on shorts in a stretchier, softer fabric
- Navy ponte (long) pull-on pants in a slimmer fit
- Navy track pant (long) with reinforced knees and cuffed hem
- Navy skort – shorts underneath with a skirt piece over the top
- Navy half-zip polar fleece
- Navy polar vest
Current school hats, beanie, scarf, socks and rain jackets remain the same.
Socks should be navy blue or white. Stockings, if worn, should be navy blue.
Students can choose to wear black leather school shoes or PREDOMINANTLY UNIFORM-COLOURED sports shoes (black, navy, teal, and/or white).
Short or long sleeve white or navy tee shirts can be worn UNDER the striped tops for warmth. Only uniform colours should be visible on students.
The expectations for hair ties and jewellery will remain the same.
2020 Prep students
Are highly encouraged to purchase the new clothing pieces to suit their child's individual needs.
If you have second hand current uniform from siblings, they can continue to be worn during 2020.
2021 Prep students
Will be required to choose from the new school clothing range
2019 Prep and Year 1 students
The current uniform may continue to be worn until the end of 2021.
Parents are encouraged to replace out grown or damaged items from the new range.
From 2022 the new school clothing range will be the only option.
A range of school clothing choices for Year 3 – 5 students will be developed based on the new 2020 items. These will be in place by 2023 when the 2020 Prep students begin Year 3.
We are working closely with Noone, our uniform supplier to get these new pieces in place quickly. As many of the designs and colours are new and need to be created, this will take a little time. The school clothing range will be ready for Prep 2020 students and we will keep you informed as to when stock will be available.
